The Daily Shop

Very often, as human beings, we have a tendency to drag our past or the worry of the future into the present moment.

And we do this so effortlessly because we are designed to move between the past, the future, and the present. Our minds can so easily travel between all three.
But because the ego, driven by fear, loves drama, loves intrigue, and loves stories, our mind keeps dragging us back to the past or pushing us into the future. And we don’t realize that when we go into these stories……past thoughts, past righteousness, past narratives of how things have gone wrong, and worries about how things can go wrong in the future……we are simply perpetuating them again and again.
This is not a new knowing….I have written about this many times in past blogposts too. However,  it feels important to bring this up again today……the idea to break through all of our past suffering by simply choosing something better for ourselves in this moment.
And yet, the human aspect of us, the mind  that governs our human selves, tends to hold on to the stories. The mind says “No, no, if I let go of my stories, then who am I?” And that can feel very scary.

A lot of people self-sabotage because they are not ready to face who they are, or realise their highest potential.
There is a quote……I’m paraphrasing……that says we are not afraid of our darkness, we are actually afraid of our light, of our highest potential.

And so we stay safe in the stories we have indulged in for so long: “He wronged me, she wronged me. This happened, that happened. This is why I am like this.”
Therefore, we don’t free ourselves from the lenses that color our judgment in the present moment. We keep looking at people, the world, and opportunities through those lenses……what happened in the past, what was done to me, what is right, what is wrong, what I want, what I don’t want……which is again duality.

Right now, as humanity, we are being offered a chance to springboard……to leap out of these stories and move into a different dimension, a different feeling space, where we can choose joy.
When I was speaking to a client, I was shown this beautiful shop. And it reminded me of something we used to do during COVID, when we would gather as a group and set intentions together. During one of those sessions, a spontaneous visualization came through……a shop.
Every morning, when you wake up, you walk into this shop. And this shop has a past aisle, a future aisle, and a present aisle.
Most of us are drawn to the past aisle……past thoughts, past stories that define who we are today, unforgiveness, resentment, and everything we have held on to.
Or we hold on to perceived shortcomings from the past and see ourselves through the lenses of parents or authority figures.  As we are now aware, so much of our subconscious programming was imprinted before the age of seven, and we keep replaying these programmes and create our reality on repeat, replay modes.
Then we go into the future aisle, which feels like possibility. But most of the time, because we are carrying the past with us, it colors the future as well. We look at the future through the lenses of the past, and we see limitations.
So we don’t even look at certain sections of the future, because we believe they are not possible for us.
For example, if I have been told that I’m not good at sewing or embroidery, I may never even look in that direction. I will look at everything else, but I will believe that I am not capable of that. Similarly, someone who has been told they are not good at math may never explore that path.
So the future aisles don’t open up……not because they don’t exist, but because our minds are closed to them.
Now, when we walk into the present aisle, with the awareness that the mind is like a little child holding our hand, tugging us toward the past or the future……
We remember……we are not that child. We are the soul. We are the higher self.
And instead of being pulled, we gently say, “Let’s just explore this aisle.”

In the present moment aisle, right in front of you, you will find peace, mindfulness, presence, joy, inspiration, expansion, inclusivity, kindness, awareness, bliss, breathing, slowing down, resting, loving, feeling loved, emotional regulation, and nervous system balance.

All of this is available to you……as long as you are not focused on the stories of the past or the worries of the future.
And when you make the choice to come into the present moment aisle again and again, you begin to say, “Tomorrow, I’ll see about tomorrow. Maybe I’ll go to the past or future aisle then. That’s okay. No judgment. But today……what do I want to choose for myself?”
And when we do this consistently, it becomes a habit to remain in the present moment aisle.
And something beautiful happens.
The future aisles begin to open up in ways we were not aware of, because we are no longer choosing through the lens of the past.
And the past, too, begins to soften. It’s as though the shelves start clearing themselves. The stories loosen their hold on you.
So when you revisit the past occasionally, you notice, “Oh, this is interesting. I used to see it this way. I used to feel so upset about this. Why was I so upset? I’m so glad I’m free of that story.”
And that is when we have not only opened up the future to many new possibilities, but we have also released the hold of the past.
Being in the present moment becomes pleasurable. It becomes natural.
Because we begin to realize that the future is being created while we are walking through the present aisle.
Sometimes, concepts like this are hard to understand, but when we see it as a visualization, it becomes easier.
So instead of being pulled by the child into the past or the future, we can gently hold its hand and say, “Let’s see what’s here today. Maybe there’s something beautiful for us here. Maybe we can feel joy today. Maybe we can just have a picnic in the present aisle.”
And from here, we create the future.
It’s like magic.
I wanted to share this today, and I hope it reaches whoever it needs to.
It reached me too. The last few days I have felt a heaviness……perhaps my own, perhaps collective……and I needed to return to the present aisle today.
I hope it helps someone out there as well.
Sending you much, much love, and wishing you a wonderful, peaceful, joyful, inspired day.
