From my inner dialogue via journalling today –
I was thinking about how in school, the science stream was considered superior to the arts. That we were subtly conditioned to respect solid results, validation etc . At the same time imagination was discouraged subtly
(” Don’t build castles in the sky ” is one of the things I remember )
Dreamers, poets and intuitives were enjoyed but not taken seriously in subtle and not so subtle ways.
This led me to feeling into the times when we humans were totally present with the direct experience of life. We created, we touched, we felt , we used all our senses to directly experience the world.
Through music,
drumming, drawing, singing, dancing etc. Expression flowed without needing to be explained. It was understood by being experienced directly.
Even now, when we sit in silence, like in meditation, reiki or Vipassana we begin to notice how much noise words can carry. When we created language we were using our creativity to connect even more but that also created a distance from our direct experience. Our minds started to use words to interpret our direct experience. This also probably created a disconnect with our own intuitive knowing.
Not because words are wrong, but because so many of them are unconsciously used or are reactive ….… filling space rather than creating meaning.
It is not words that take away our power.
It is the way we use them.
Unaware or unconsciously used words can scatter our energy.
Conscious words can focus it and even help us return us to our true selves.
The mind, too, has its place. It helps us make sense of the world, ask questions, understand patterns. But when we live only in our minds , constantly asking why, what, when, where, how, who….. we can begin to limit our experience to what we can understand , interpret , classify and judge.
There is another way too….a softening of our edges. Using words like
“I wonder…”
I wonder what else is possible?
I wonder what else is true?
I wonder how beautiful this can become?
This kind of curiosity does not demand answers. It leaves things open ended.
It creates space and allows us to get into the flow.
The flow is more fluid more expansive… less confined by what we already think we know.
The mind does not need to disappear.
It simply needs to loosen its grip.
When it does, we start to connect to our intuition, our knowing, our imagination …a deeper knowing that cannot always be put into words, but can be felt.
And perhaps that is the balance we are returning to.
Not choosing between logic and intuition,
but allowing both to exist in balance.
In schools nowadays imagination and creativity are once again encouraged and applauded. This is perhaps one of the reasons we are coming back into a state of balance.
Just my musings …..💜
